Vermiculite Exfoliating Units VERMIC

APPLICATION

Units of VERMIC series are designed to exfoliate vermiculite of various fractions and deposits. The units use a microwave exfoliating technology of hydrous micas from the latest generation. They require the lowest energy necessary for exfoliation, are environmentally-friendly, mobile and have small size. These units are produced in different types depending on their productive capacities - 50, 100, 250, and 500 kg/h. Only electrical power is required to operate the units. This equipment is also used to regenerate processed vermiculite.

Fields of application are agriculture, manufacture of heat-protective and fire-resistant materials for construction industry, production of sorbents.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

- productive capacity from 50 to 500 kg/h
- microwave capacity from 4 to 50 kW
- overall automatic operation
- size depends on performance

PRODUCTIVITY

The units are produced in different modification types: VERMIC-50, VERMIC-100, VERMIC-250. Their productive capacity amount to 50, 100, and 250 kg/h. When required, one can obtain more productivity in exfoliated vermiculite by combining the units into a single technological line with capacities of 500, 1 000, 2 000 kg/h.

UNITS DESCRIPTION

Units of VERMIC series use microwave energy to exfoliate vermiculite. They enable to obtain a high exfoliation factor from 8 to 15 for vermiculite with fractions LARGE, MEDIUM, FINE, SUPER FINE, which come from different world deposits. A special feature of the units is a high vermiculite exfoliation factor of fractions FINE and SUPER FINE. Energy costs for vermiculite processing through our units are the lowest in the world. They are 5 to 8 times lower than in the other hidrous micas processing technologies that use liguid fuel or gas burning. Such low energy costs became possible due to the microwave field used for vermiculite exfoliation. As a result, there is no more need for such heat carriers as incandescent gases to heat vermiculite. Vermiculite takes in energy of the microwave field and the heat necessary for exfoliation is released in vermiculite itself.

Energy costs for vermiculite exfoliated through microwave units VERMIC are 5 to 8 times lower than energy costs required for the units with conventional technologies.

Process Description

Vermiculite is loaded into a charging hopper equipped with level sensors. The level sensors control if the charging hopper is completely filled during work. Further, by means of a vibrating batcher, vermiculite is shifted onto a conveyer belt. The batcher regulates supply of the raw material. That enables to adjust the unit work for vermiculite of different deposits and fractions. Vermiculite, moving with the conveyer belt, comes into a microwave reactor. The microwave reactor is designed in the way that makes vermiculite take in the microwave energy most efficiently and get exfoliated.

VERMIC units allow to obtain an exfoliation factor from 8 to 12 even for vermiculite fractions FINE and SUPER FINE!

A high economical efficiency of the process is achieved due to the fact that vermiculite is heated within. An additional plus of the technology is that vermiculite is not heated at over 300°С, which allows it to keep its high mechanical strength. As contrasted with our technologies, the convential ones have vermiculite heated at over 800°С and thus it becomes crisp, creates a lot of dust, and some usable substances burn up on its surface. After exfoliating, vermiculite moves to exit the microwave reactor and is unloaded into a prepared containter.

It is because the work of VERMIC units is completely automated, it is operated by one technician. The technician’s tasks include switching the unit on, loading the raw material and changing the container with exfoliated vermiculite. Meanwhile the unit controls presence of the raw material in the charging hopper and its supply in the processing part. When necessary, VERMIC unit can be integrated into an already given technological production line.

Operating System

The unit’s work is fully automated. A reliable contemporary industrial logical controller manages the technological process. An operating technician monitors the unit by means of a sensory color screen, switches required regimes of vermiculite processing and also checks condition of the unit.

VERMIC units are fully automated and operated by one technician.

Several dozens of technological regimes of processing different kinds and fractions of vermiculite can be saved in the unit’s memory storage. The technician needs to choose a required recipe and push the button “start”, the rest is done by the unit itself. The access to the operation of the unit has several regulated levels protected by passwords. This excludes an accidental or intentional change of the technological regimes by the technician as access of a production technician is necessary to create a new processing recipe or change the old one.

Advantages

1. Economical Efficiency
VERMIC units have the lowest energy costs of vermiculite exfoliation. To exfoliate 1 kg of vermiculite one requiers 0,1- 0,2 kW/h of electric power. Only electric power is needed to operate the unit.

2. Mobility
VERMIC units have a module construction, small weight and size. This makes them mobile and convenient to operate. The units can be moved easily and set directly at places where vermiculite is used.

3. Environmental Compatibility
VERMIC units are the most environmentally-friendly among the existing ones at the moment. Compared to the others, they have the lowest dust emission level and completely exclude emissions of fuel combustion products.

4. High Quality
There is no excessive heating of vermiculite in VERMIC units. This enables to obtain the product of high quality. A high vermiculite exfoliation factor is saved for fractions FINE and SUPER FINE.
